LOCATION: Flexible, London Broadcast Centre or Glasgow Pacific Quays preferred. Hybrid, 2-3 days/week in the office

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £56,000 - £66,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE


Archives Technology & Services is responsible for managing one of the world’s largest media archives containing metadata about hundreds of thousands of programmes and their recordings.


The Archives Data Platform is a next generation cloud-based data platform to support discovery of Archive content, metadata management and data informed decision making. We are consolidating siloed data and enriching it using machine learning and AI to build a single unified content catalogue.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM


You will be working with other data experts, engineers, product and delivery management colleagues. Together we are responsible for building the data platform and content catalogue using the latest cloud technologies as the foundation for content discovery, data management and reporting products.


This is a dynamic, hands-on role that covers data architecture, data process design, data management and quality aspects.



You will be supporting Lead Data Manager in:


• building the Archives data model to support existing data and processes with the vision for the future

• defining and implementing data management best practices

• defining and implementing strategy to measure and improve Archives’ data quality over time.


YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT


• specifying and overseeing work for data engineers and analysts to populate the content catalogue data model

• defining extensions to the content catalogue data model

• planning, detailing and organising data integration and data quality improvement projects

• analysing complex data sets, models and processes


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:


• Profficiency in SQL, including regular expressions and querying complex data structures

• Experience in data process and ETL design and development, from start to finish

• Entity-Relationship data modelling experience

• Good understanding and practical experience of core data management principles

• Ability to work on multiple projects in a rapidly changing environment


DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:


• Self starter, interest in learning new technologies and a passion for data

• AWS cloud development experience, including Athena and S3

• Data governance experience

• Ability to present data design (model and processes) solutions to non-technical audiences

• Python or other scripting experience

• Experience with media metadata

• Experience of working with a multidisciplinary Agile team of analysts, engineers and product leads

• Attention to detail
