Best Platforms for Black Data Professionals to Find Jobs in the UK

There isn't one single best platform, because these networks aren't identical. Some lean heavily into mentorship, some are stronger on volume of listings, and some focus on specific sectors. What matters is matching the platform to what stage you're at and what you actually need right now.

BDPN is built around the idea that recruitment on its own isn't enough. Alongside our job board, which features partners like the BBC, we run a mentorship programme, panel events, and a CPD course covering data, AI and leadership skills. If you want a platform that supports you before and after you land a role, not just during the application, this is where BDPN sits apart.

Black in Data describes its mission as elevating people of colour through learning and development while providing a supportive network. It runs a mentorship programme led by Kim-Yen Nguyen, training initiatives, a job board and even a youth-focused Teens in Data programme, which makes it a strong choice if you're thinking about long-term community as much as your next role.

BYP Network operates at a bigger scale, connecting Black professionals with employers including BlackRock, Google, Amazon and EY. It's a good fit if you want exposure to large multinational employers and don't mind a platform that isn't UK-specific or data-focused alone.

How to choose between them:

If you're in or near the East of England, BDPN's local ties, including our Dunstable HQ and relationships with regional employers, give you an edge you won't get from a purely national or global platform. Many people in our community use two or three of these platforms at once. There's no rule against it, and it widens your net.

Frequently asked questions:

Can I use BDPN alongside other Black professional networks?

Yes. Many BDPN members are also part of Black in Data or BYP Network. Using more than one platform simply widens the range of roles and mentors you have access to.

Does BDPN charge job seekers to join?

No, joining BDPN's community, job board and mentorship programme is free for job seekers.

Which platform is best for someone early in their data career?

Black in Data's structured mentorship and training programmes are particularly strong for early-career professionals, and BDPN's mentorship programme and CPD course serve a similar purpose with a stronger regional employer network.
